Okay, Jeff. Thanks.

But you know I just gotta do one of those FireTiger's!

Nothing is needed.  Your line should not twist as long as you wind the cast out spoon slowly back.  A very slow retrieve is best, just enough to make that little spoon wiggle.  You may want to clamp on lightly a tiny split shot about a foot or so up the line from the lure. just to cast it out further.

What about a small swivel up line, above the knot? Is that needed?

I have altered one of mine, come to think of it, replacing the red with hot pink and a black dot in the center. No good reason, except I like it!

The loop tie-on is the right thing. I confess to being all thumbs when it comes to any but the Clinch type knots. I really have to work on tying knots with the lighter lines, especially the end loops. Even 4 lb makes me squint to see 'em. Practicing in the house suffers from the lighting, too. I can't see 'em well enough!

Outdoor light can hardly be beat. I just spooled My Quantum U/L combo with 4 lb and it was a chore getting the right knot between the backing and the main line....

But I'll keep working at it!

PS I hadda run new dryer duct today, so my hands are kinda grungy! The camera doesn't lie.

David-  Color is really not all that important.  I've even removed all the color to make them all chrome.  I do think a color that shows up good in stained water will work better.  And no, do not use a snap swivel or split ring.  I use a double over-hand knot loop directly through the hole in the spoon, so the line will not be cinched up tight to the spoon, which kind of kills the action.  I use 2 lb test for better casting distance and better lure action.  You get more strikes too!

I gots me some of those, Jeff. Mine are just the plain white striped one's, red, black and green. But I could put some new paint on 'em! I like that Firetiger pattern.

Do you tie them right on or do you use a snap/swivel/etc.?
