So did you wind up adding the 200 extra fish?

He has a pond by his house and was catching fish and putting them in my pond.
This I didn't know until after I started stocking mine. They all are small and the bass are growing fast and there seems to be a good bunch. My plan is to keep all the sunfish and crappies I catch. And I'm adding a few more bluegill 5" to 6" next week, about 200 next week before they spawn.
This summer I'll have about 6 good preditors at the pond( My grandkids) this will help me get it in balance.

Keep in mind though that it will take your bluegill at least a year and a half or so to reach 10", so you wouldn't necessarily want to take out all of the common-strain bluegill smaller than that because at this point they're all going to be smaller than that; keeping every hybrid bluegill you catch, on the other hand, would be a good idea, as would keeping all GSF that you catch.

If his pond drains into yours they certainly could have come in that way. Sounds like you have a good plan for controlling them.

That's a green sunfish - doesn't look to me to have any bluegill in it (i.e. not a hybrid). If I were you I would studiously avoid Dunn's (if I'm remembering correctly that they're who sold you those) in the future. Also, since you have those in the pond as well as crappie, and they're both species that are very bad about overpopulating ponds, I would say it will be very important for you not to keep many, if any, bass and just manage the pond for big bluegill; if you keep several bass the crappie or GSF either one could easily take over the pond, and at that point you'll have thousands of runts.
