This RES went from 6 3/4" to 9 3/4" in about 6 months on pellets in my basement. After being released into the pond, he was on a spawning bed within two weeks. I caught him twice after release, once after 19 days and the second time after a couple of months. His length had not increased much over that time, but body condition improved noticeably. I observed him eating pellets all during the rest of the 2007 feeding season and am looking forward to renewing our acquaintance this year.
