Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is the existing database dump for me currently for the 2018 season… 6 entries are still pending approval… tying last year’s PB season with 15 total Master angler Certificates! What a great season it has been for me. I owe it all to dialing down the presentations and making long casts with slick super lines GLISS, Nano and NanoBraid
The pattern of success continues to the bait at the end of the setup… micro jigs tipped with gulp waxies… the first certificate fish was on a .016oz jig /lil minnow combination and has been fishing the gulp waxie tipped micro jig thru the rest of the year
Bonus fish of the year was a 10# plus channel cat Certificate taken on the LCD Jig (plain jig/waxie)

… thanks Jeff!... i think i broke a Michigan record that day!... cant find another angler matching 4 in a day except for bow and arrow category...i mapped the lake a year earlier... found and marked an isolated weedbed about 40' in diameter while logging the sonar data... doing a visual perimeter check i noticed many old spawn beds adjacent to that isolated weed patch... i logged a note to get back there in the spring pre spawn and bam there they were!

The lake is a tough one to fish… described as one of the clearest lakes in the state water clearer than air… ive marked green weed near the 20’ mark. Some fish reported up to the 12” mark have been taken out of this lake… that is an incredible fish for Michigan.

Spring spawn-prespawn and summer when the lake stratifies are the times to fish it… with a summer thermocline at the 15-17 ft mark all the deep water inhabitants are forced to that thermocline breakline… I picked 2 trophies off in 2 consecutive days last JULY doing just that. Im counting on those two patterns year over year … cant wait till next year!
