Jim, I've read about fishing seawalls, for the same reasons you've posted.  These particular ones only have an inch or two of water at the base; this lake is about a foot low right now.

allan we do real good on those metal walls on some lakes i fish.seem to attract a lot of insects.the gills are really attracted to them

There is A LOT of small-craft traffic through that channel.  On the other side, the houses on each side are literally at the water's edge!  I'd be worried about ice ramming up onto the land and into the house if a strong west wind came up during the thaw!  I have yet to see any of the home-owners.  Don't leave trash.  It's a navigable stream, so they can't really say anything.  I just treat it with respect.  Don't get out onto dry land.
