Do you love big bluegill?
On arrival to the launch we found B’Gills early on beds… with water temps now in the mid 70’s with summer type weather we decided to switch gears… leave the bedding gills alone and target first breakline fish … prespawn b’gills and post spawn crappies… and whatever preds that would hit our UL jigs.
Ended up catching many quality post spawn Crappie off the beds in 9-12 ft of water… also many pre-spawn quality B’Gills..Largest B.Crappie in the mid – 12’s and B’Gill just over 9. All my fish were caught on the hot bite streak of the “Spring Cricket” and a few with chartreuse Gulp Waxies.
An incredible panfish streak going since ice – out on the ULs/jigs.
