Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

20150406-stopped by one of my favorite fishing holes on the way from town to solve and accomplish two bulleted items. To monitor the fish into the shallows and to satisfy the feel of the tug on the rod. I had my 5.5ft all purpose spin rig rigged with a slip bobber and GULP maggot in pink and my favorite smallmouth rig.

Got a smallmouth hit straight away by dragging and twitching along the bottom. Took the fishes temp with a digital cooking thermometer and it read 41 degs. Water at the shore measured 44 degs and ice out just a few days ago!  A good battle and a quick release after a snap or two. The slip bobber experienced 0 hits.
