Traditionally, they seem to be thicker and broader than most gills and other sunfish, with a relative weight that is heavier. Seem to be more bottom oriented feeders as well.

I believe you might be right ,Jim.I've caught pure bred seeds in my home lake that were real tough for their size .I attributed it to them being underdogs and outnumbered by the Gills .

I, like you, Ken, believe that the fight from a p-seed or p-gill is noticeably stronger and enduring than that of the northern strain bluegills in our area.

is it me or do these guys fight a bit harder than gills? dont get me wrong i love the gill fight thats why im hooked but i thought i had a 10" plus gill on.
