some bluegill in this maybe? vertical bars look alot like the bluegill markings ive been catching in this lake.

You're right!!! It is a hybrid!
I'm guessing, with the mottling on the cheeks, it is a pumkinseed/shellcracker cross...a 'pumpkincracker', but I could be mistaken. Would like to see more of the mouth structure.
