I just remembered to clean this fish about 45 minutes ago.  It had a belly full of freshwater mussels!

Nice catch Allen....blackened catfish is delish! And I've taken Channels through the ice on many occasions.... A lot of times they are regarded as a warm water fish, but like BG they can be caught throughout the winter as well.

Probably going to be Blackened Seasoning.  Kids prefer fish Blackened.

Honestly, I'm surprised I caught it.  Never fished for cats this time of year.  Normally, I put the fishing gear away when it gets cold.  Last year was the first time I fished all Winter long, by targeting Saugers and White Bass.  Now, I've still got Saugers to target, but also Trout, and possibly Blue cats in Winter feeding mode.

Catfish to trout, looks like you got it covered Allen.  Corn meal and hot grease for this one.

Good one Allan!!!. I fished a county lake today and was looking for some crappies. I missed one, and g tipped with one bass on my crappie jig tipped with a gulp minnow. I am told there are some good catfish in that lake. Guess I need to break out the cut bait next time.
