years ago i made some floats on the lathe it was during the first Gulf war ..we had a brush pile we wanted fish for crappies but  couldn't reach it from shore so i made a float that would reach it ..i called it the Tomahawk cruise missile painted it pink and white ...used it with a 10' steelhead rod and a black Cardinal 3 with 4# test .. you could almost cast all the line from the reel ") it worked great with a bucktail jig on that brush pile .... that float also worked great with a Swedish pimple for walleyes ..them cold days when the walleyes didn't want a jig much .. we would fish that float with a Swedish pimple .... just cast it out and just let it sit ..the wave action would do most of the work ..watch the float it would go under or just bump then just set the hook ..i know your set up will work ...

Perhaps Bright Sunshine creates too much Flash so a duller color would be more attractive to the fish Carl. I don't know.

With Cold temps 50degree and colder I am going with the mealworms, a preferred Cold Water /Ice Fishing bait sometimes.Yes the fall back often is when the hit comes. I like pulling the spoon with a high held rod and dropping with out much rod tip action until the water temp gets higher or the fish show more activity.

IVE THOUGHT OF USING A FLOAT WITH SPOONS;;;; BUT----  MY BEST HITS ARE FROM;;  RAISING THE SPOONS;; LETTING THEM;; TIGHT LINE DOWN-- THATS WHEN MINE GET HIT !!  IM TIPPING MINE WITH; NITE CRAWLERS THO..........  ALSO;; DEPENDING;; ON THE WEATHER !!  IVE NOTICED; ON EXTRM  OVERCAST DAYS;; SILVER SPOONS WORK GREAT !!  SUN SHINY DAYS;; CANT GET ONE HIT OFF THEM !!  EXPLAIN THAT ???????
