Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

... Myself (im in the back) and brothers Ron, and Jim tagging Crappies all day long with pinkies on Duck Lake. We would anchor either side of the weedline and catch Crappies continuously. My personal best on this lake was 17.5” and still stands to this day. Jumbo Blue gill were also available all day long fishing from the dock during spring thru summer periods… those were the days. You didn’t have to be a professional fisherman with fancy boats and electronic gear. The fish were there and in large numbers and sizes.

...we had a cottage on Duck Lake in Oakland county, Mi. my mother still lives on the lake.

spent alot of time on the water back then! Seems we were always learning something new from my Dad... then my brothers and i would make it happen on the lake.

... Thanks Guys... Yep those were the days... life was simpler and so was the fishing! Geared up with an old steel Shakespeare rod and a spin-cast reel loaded with 10/lb curly mono... we'd cast our tiny Pinky hair jigs with enough split shot to get to the fish and catch them all day long... typical 11 to 14" Crappie and 8"+ B'Gill.
