Jim, that used to be a common sentiment. Now, we're learning that while it may not be easy to fish down the QUANTITY of bluegills, it absolutely is possible to fish down the QUALITY of bluegills. Studies have shown this to be the case in numerous locations. That's why we advocate for selective harvests here at BBG......no two BOW are the same, and understanding your water and the dynamics in play can help you get a handle on the harvest strategy best suited for your favorite fishing holes.

wow,was that caught on devil's lake?i know you got the perch up there.your right tony.growing up in the 60s and 70s fishing the upper midwest from minnesota on the canadian border to michichigan wisconsin and illinois ,caught way bigger gills than i catch now.most times off a pier with a worm and bobber.this was before fisheries management was a big deal.a lot more people than 30-40 years ago.DNRs dont seem to care about bluegills much either IMO .places where there are attempts at sunfish management it is never enforced.local conservation officers would rather sit in their cars and write parking tickets.i will never have the means to have my own pond so for decent fishing i have to find places that are stocked and pay yearly fees.people say you cant overfish bluegills i dis agree
