Thanks John... all year long I rigged for panfish and ended up catching a lot of big preds along side of them. I ended up catching many SMB's on the ULs spinning rigs with 2 or 4 pound test... that is now the way I fish for them. I got many bait casting rigs  that I never touched this season. The 2" Power Minnow with or without the front spinner was one of my top baits this year caught a lot of crappies, SMB's, some walleye and some N.Pike. The bait played a major roll in tagging nearly 200 Crappies in one afternoon for me with or without the spinner.

Your rig looks great … just looking at it looks like a producer. I love using the little spinners but prefer the willows over the Colorado.... when gearing up over the ice fishing season I bought a couple packs of the #1 BPS for vertical jigging for crappie.. But they bombed out around here... apparently the crappie prefer the waxies around here over minnows during the winter... spinners added underproduced for me thru the ice. Many years ago my dad used to use the willow blade pinkie jig and minnow combination on our lake and took many crappie. Old school rigging with many variations. You should name it. i give some of my rigs names to referr back to with links.

I like your minnow bait and the color combination... natural shad patterns are my preference too. I picked the Power Minnow because it was highly recommended to me by a pro that was fishing Wixom while I was fishing the docks. He filled up his livewell  with crappie while fishing the treetops a couple hundred feet from the docks. He gave me the remainder of his pkg when I ooohed and ahhhed at the numbers and sizes of the crappie in his possession. I use them mainly drop shotting and jigging... they are tough on the hook and have a lot of action. They are readily available everywhere in my area.  John  the line I've been using is 2 or 4 pound braid... big fish were all hooked and landed with no breakoffs just bite offs. Using anything heavier would impede the action. Like I said earlier I don’t intentionally fish Pike with this rig … it just happens. I fish a lot of key structure documented with waypoints and its either heavy with the panfish or the preds and any combination in between.  When I used to fish the heavier baitcasting equipment with 30# braid bass fishing the pike and muskies bit thru all the time.

Wire is the only way to protect against that in my opinion

BTW Keitech makes a similar bait that is Shrimp scented .It's called the Easy Shiner . I like you attach a spinner ahead of the bait .Got 1 21 " Walleye and a bunch of Smallies Largemouths and Red Breasted Sunfish with that bait in August at a local river . Adding spinners work great in Rivers or lakes .

Great Pike Slip. What line are you using to ensure they don't cut off ?  I've been making fire line leaders to attach to my mono. Fireline 4# diameter ,10# test .The Crappie pursuit has prevented me from getting into the Pickerel but I'm anxious to try this light spoon leader out .
