Charles, I think it is the multiple colors, give a live look. With the movement of your soft hackle, bam you have a killer fly!!!!! Did you know that there is a peacock estaz?????

Neal, I forgot something: you can use a red-dyed bucktail, like I use, or red floss. Either one works just fine. Also, either black or brown soft hackle.

Neal, I hope you have as fantastic a response from your fish as mine have give me! They just can't leave it alone! Went out to Lake Raven (Huntsville State Park in Texas) today, and caught over a dozen in a half hour! People are starting to make fun of me because whenever they ask what fly I'm using, I respond with "What else?"

Greg, you're absolutely right! I don't know just what it is about herl, but fish just can't stay away from it!

#10 or even 12 or 14. Red bucktail for the tag. Herl for the body. Black hackle because I ran out of brown! :-D

Looks like Red floss, peacock herl body, black hackle, and black thread. All on a #10 hook, Is that correct?
