i think were at about 6 or 7.place my son goes is full of fish and spring fed.beautiful water water.semi clear with deep weed beds.

Jim...yesterday at different locations and lakes 8-12".. we had that easily at the beginning of december last year.

how much ice SS?was supposed to go today with my son but wind is 30+..thursday he got a 18inch walleye.3 big crappies and a dozen gills.it's private water and stocked so no issues with keeping some.hoping we can get out tomorrow.i haven't ice fished in years.

i see it here too Mike.... hardly any fishing during open water and hordes of fisherman during the winter. definitely more fishing hours during the winter. very little catch and release up here.

Used to fish a little 100 acre lake in Northern Indiana that produced a lot of nice gills. In the summer there might be 3 people fishing it. But in the winter lots of time there would be 15. I knew some guys that only ice fished. Who knows.

its funny that no one fishes here during open water ... yet they congest here during the winter.

mike... doing both... i brought a little gear with me ... but i like to walk out first especially when the fisherman are bunched up like this.... result one gill caught... so i drove around a little more to look for easy access sites. recon the rest of the afternoon. it was so nice this afternoon low 20s  but no wind.
