Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Our reservoirs get muddied very quickly also this time of year… historically I pretty much avoid the dirty water and for very good reason… the fish are pretty much neutral thru most of the situation.
Today we took a small recon trip two hours before sunset to check out a local reservoir. Backing up to the launch we were greeted with coffee brown water with visibility at just a few inches and at 46 degs. Our strategy was to fish some back cuts of the reservoir to get out of the current, find warmer water, find clear water and catch a few crappie and gills. Throughout the main lake body we spotted suspended fish on the sonar right away but continued to the deep cuts in search of active fish.
Entering the sheltered back cut the water was noticeably clearer and warmer at 51 degs. We visually spotted many meandering carp spotted no sunfish or hooked any for that matter. We would have done better in the heat of the day rather fish the latter part of the day.
