thanks for the reply Jim , yes I love Carrie Stevens flies, and yes some call it art work but you hit it on the head yes they do catch fish.

 thanks mark wish we had more tiers around here.been following don's work mark.i have always been interested in carrie stevens flies and the flies of that region.i think people think of these as art work which they are,but these flies caught fish and still do.it's like the elaborate deer hair bass bugs.a foam head is easy and more durable but not anything special.look at mark stine's work.is it worth all the work?i say absolutely  yes.i am going to attempt some smaller wersions of these classic streamers for panfish and bass.why go thru the trouble?why not.i am a much better "gear" fisherman than fly fisherman.if it was just about numbers and food i would use a .net

Don Bastian tying, I have some of his flies,a great person ,he showed me how to do a multi color paired wing he makes it look easy.
