Went out for a few hours this morning hoping to get into some decent 'gills and take a few home. It was not one of my better days...broke my leader and didn't have another leader or my tippet and to…Continue

Just want to say thanks to the great people on Big Bluegill! After reading a few of the post in several groups, I went to BassPro and got some pink Gulp Power Wigglers (look like little maggots) and…Continue

Very nice report and fish!
Are you going to develope a 'flier fryer'?
Just wonderin'...
What a great month May has been fishing in North Carolina. Every river I've been to this season has produced.......As always for me, the Pasquotank River rules! Took a friend Doc and his son Matt yeterday and we slammed multiple species......We actually fished through three different "toad stanglers" and wound up catching over 100 sunfish which included all three of our personal best Fliers. We had 9 Crappie, 2 Channel Cats, a Bullhead, a Bowfin and a Coontail......All four bass we caught were under 14 inches so they were returned for the good of the species.....What a great time and water temperatures are holding right in the peak range wtih no heat waves yet......Already have our second named storm in the Atlantic basin, this time Beryl is going to visit Georgia first and then shoot back up the coast.....hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.....Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you all......Good Luck fishing North Carolina Style!
Alberto is out of here....Time for everyone that wants to get out over the Memorial Day weekend to bring their plans together...despite an unstable week in the triangle and along the coast, it appears that we'll be blessed with some sesonable weather for the weekend that will make time on the water very rewarding.....May go over an anchor in the redneck yacht club on Winslow's Beach or I may just catch some gills, cook some steaks on the barbie and relax in the pool....Who knows, maybe some bolied crawfish or fried softshell crabs will work also....Whatever the case I'll be sure to remember those who have fought for freedom and wish you all a great weekend Fishing North Carolina Style......
Very Challenging conditions out on the Little River this afternoon with 20 plus knots of wind and gusting higher....Water temperatures in the low 70s but I did find a few nice gills shallow using the Bubble-Gum Charlie Bee Slider tipped with live crickets....Had a couple nice Crappie and a pretty Warmouth today as well....Water was pushed out about a foot from the prevailing winds.....Weekend doesn't look good for the coastal sections of the state....Good Luck to all of you Fishing North Carolina Style!
Didn't get out to a little after 5:00 this afternoon.....Went down to a little Honey Hole I fish on the Yeopim River near Bethel, North Carolina...The winds were terrible behind the front from yesterday so I anchored periodically and covered an area thoroughly before relocating....Fish were in 3 to 5 feet of water around Bulkheads and Docks.....A pink Charlie Slider 1/32 ounce tipped with a live brown cricket was the ticket.....This river has more standard bluegill than most of the rivers in the Northeastern portion of the state which are dominated by Coppernose Gills.....Fished for 2 hours and caught 40 and I kept 20 for a fish fry tomorrow night with company.......Biggest Gills today were 9 to 10 inches and I caught several Largemouth and a couple Small Seeds......Water temperature was @ 72 degrees with air temps in the mid 70s and heavy overcast but finally no rain...Saturday doesn't look good in the coastal region so I'm going somewhere for a few hours tomorrow afternoon in case Saturday is a loss....I like what I'm seeing.....great fishing North Carolina Style!
Got out for a few hours after work this afternoon despite scattered thunderstorms in the area.....Caught some nice fish on the Little River down in the Deep Creek section.....Water temperatures are in the high 70s and the water on the Northern Albermarle Sound is high from recent rains and prevailing winds......Had a handful of live Black Crickets left so I fished them and finished with the store bought variety....Lots of fun and some nice fish......Fish are bedding in these local rivers.......
Weather touch and go here in North Carolina again today....dropped the chance of rain down to 40% so that means there's a 60% chance that I'll get out for a few hours later provided no pop up t-storms are lurking.....
While most of North Carolina was under torrential rain and thunderstorms today, I snuck in some fishing in the extreme Northeastern corner and what a great day......Not only did I catch some really fine bluegills I caught my personal best Flier Sunfish today as well in the Upper Pasquotank River....I was using brown crickets that I purchased and black field crickets that I caught last night at dusk in my yard....Caught over 50 Coppernose with a big football 10 incher taking big fish honors today.....Water temperatures are in the low to mid 70s which is awesome for freshwater fishing of all kinds especially the beloved Coppernose......Weather appears to be impacting our state through mid week but hopefully that will mean a great weekend..........Good luck out there and be safe....It's good to be back home in the Tarheel State..... Enjoy fishing North Carolina Style!
Getting excited about returning home this week....Long range forecast looks really good......I really like 80s during the day and 60s at night....really favorable conditions to get some stability with our water temperatures and very comfortable for the anglers.......I've had fun in South Carolina the last month but it's time to get serious back in the saddle of the old Ebbtide on the Northeast N.C. rivers........Need to do some scouting after all my dad and nephew will be here in a month! I'll be updating more frequently here as soon as I return to the Harbor of Hospitality. Good luck to all my North Carolina fishing buddies as we near the best Bluegill fishing of the year!
