Jeff when you fish. Do you fish under a float.

Those are all factors Corey.....I can tell from reading your report that you are flexible and respond to the right things.....In my region, water temperature is the single most important factor to catching quality fish period....Sustained water temperatures without sudden changes in either direction will be a common thread to successful outings in the northeast rivers......I'm excited about the weeks ahead as we have turned the corner on this weather.......

Thanks for the welcoming Jeffrey and David. I would totally agree with David Wester that the fish are definetly acting a little funny this year. I go every weekend and it gets better and better each weekend as it gets closer to that full moon. I never really thought it really played much role but when i fished it last year on May 5th, myself and 2 of my friends caught 90 in 2 hours, this year on may 5th i probly caught 30 or so. I also beleive the unusual weather is making it harder also because its been cold then hot and cold then hot and the fish cant fighure out when its time to do there thing. I primarely use just a worm and a split shot on the bottom with an ultralight rod with 4lb test. It works really well for me, or if they are not hitting the worm ill switch it up and float a cricket. I havent had much luck with bettle spins ever and this weekend im going to try out my fly rod with the normal little poppers you get from walmart. I have not found any beds yet but they are staged outside of where they usually bed so i am paintently waiting for the hot action. Oh and Glenn i hope you get that fish that is worth posting.

The fish are feeding up for the full Moon later this month. once they start breeding in earnest, the bite will taper off.
Better hit em while you can.

Absolutely crazy bite lately. Went out yesterday and found 4 bluegills and 2 crappies in about 3 hours. I won't even mention the bass I caught(7) on accident. I switched colors, depths and presentation the entire time. When something worked, I stuck with it a bit but all methods were completely inconsistent.
Now today, a different story. I fished 2 hours and caught 40+ and ended up keeping 19 real nice ones. They were not picky at all, biting pink, yellow, orange and red/black jigs and spinners- all tipped with a wax worm. I tie 2 jigs under my float pole and even caught a few doubles. Always fun to get a double, especially when you think you have 1 big one on the line. The fish were shallow, 2-3 ft,although a few larger fish were caught just off the ledge in 4-6 ft of water.
