Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Well, the temps shot up to 60 today, but it was very windy. I decided to fish for carp and just relax outside on the lawn chair, shootin the breeze with myself. Did the carp gig in an area we have been chumming and I got one run...and one very nice fish of 38 inches, but noticeably light in weight. Compared to the 38 incher that Bruce posted, this fish was a lightweight, but still likely over 20 pounds.

I think if the fish was heavy it might have been my first 30 lber. I always seem to get the skinny fish! But I am still tickled. Caught 'em on a small chunk of dried pineapple with a packbait made from oatmeal, pineapple chunks and cinimmon apple oatmeal.

The fish came in farely quick, then realized something was not right as I was about to beach it, then took off on several runs before calming down. This fish now becomes my largest freshwater catch for January.

Still a good lookin' fish Jim........no belly like you mentioned.......Lets see what February holds..

Wow Jim, your bait sounds delicious! No wonder that big guy went for it. I love hearing about your catches, you are definitely on to something with the winter carp action.

I'll trade you.... if you ever get to my neck of the woods I'll take you fishing in my Hybrid Gill' pond, and if I make it out to your location we go carp fishing. Whaddya' think?

Awesome fish, congrats on your personal best for January!

I say 'Let's do it!'

Not only that, I'll take you to my fav hybrid ponds, gill lakes and catfish holes. And if we get bored, sheeesh, I'll even go bass fishing, if we have to!

What is this Bass you speak of.......

Do they still make those????

Oh nice! Like Tony said, you must have thrown some good chums out there. Must be a mix of healthy veggies mix to ring their sensors and motivate their taste buds.

Fantastic fishin'

Thanks for the post Jim

Really nice, Jim. I like the grocery store vittles you've been baiting with, too. That's class.
