Nice!

I finally got enough materials to tie up some black wooly buggers.  Maybe I can start targeting cats on the fly.

Your gonna have to give me some tips for catching Catfish on the long rod! I've been flyfishing since the 80's and caught all kinds of freshwater Bass including Peacock Bass, Bream, Specks(Crappie), Chain Pickeral, Gar, Striper,Trout, Tilapia, Carp, Speckeled Trout, Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Shark, Jack Crevelle, Permit......I was thinking all I needed to target was bonefish someday but now you've made me realize I've never caught a catfish on fly!

Lee, I always seem to connect with a black wooly bugger, or a black crystal flash bead eye dragon fly nymph fished near Mulberry trees.  Had an old timer tell me that catfish and carp would eat mulberries.  The lake I fish has some mulberry trees around the shore line and I have caught some catfish near them when berries were ripe and falling.  Know catfish have a reputation as sent feeders but I believe if they see it and it looks like something edible they"ll react just like any other fish.  I have noticed that a sloooow retrieve is part of the equation, which helps keep the fly hugging the bottom.  Been thinking about getting a sinking fly line to help with this presentation.  I think a sinking line is what Greg McWilliams uses most of the time.

X2 on the Mulberries.  I haven't experienced it, but have heard about it from numerous sources.  Might have to tie up some "mulberry flies" to match the hatch.

I haven't caught any cats on the fly, but for channels, most of what I've read is black wooly buggers, fished near bottom, close to rocks.  Expect to get hung up, just like normal catfishing.  Might want to go to bead chain wooly buggers, so they will flip over and ride hook point up.

I've also read about streamers and other minnow patterns taking channels.  Bigger streamers at current seams will target Blues as well.  Flatheads can be caught on the fly, and I would think a streamer would be best, but as far as "where", I'm not totally sure.

I have caught a lot of different fish on the fly but never a catfish or carp or drum. I would like to fix that this year. Nice fly catch
