Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I would like to make my own imitation of a bait I use frequently to catch bluegill with. Its small in size, about 1.25 inches long. Here's a picture of what it looks like.

Hi Tim,
I ain't got a clue about any kind of mold except what grows on my vinyl siding. I read how to do what you want years ago somewhere but don't know where. Sorry. That thing looks like a fish getter alright! I wish you luck on your mold question. One other thing, this group is sleepy, sleepy. Have you thought about posting this question out on the general forum?

If you do post it out there, consider re-wording your question to something like this..."I Want To Make A Million Replicas Of My Thingy"......Anybody know how to do it? Here's a picture of my thingy.

You'll get some interest with that bait! There will be some just playing with it but keep replying and asking for help and you will probably finally get the answer you are looking for.

Hey Tim, When I first joined this great site, I posted a picture of some of my hand-poured plastics that I use for all of my panfishing. All of my supplies come from Lurecraft. They sell mold silicone which I have found is the best way to copy a bait right down to the last wrinkle. If you need some help, let me know either here or on the forum. Where did you buy the original lure? Where here in the South are you from? and how many of these baits do you still have? Again, I'll be happy to help you out. Call lurecraft toll free at 1-800- 925-9088. Nick Holt.
Thats the Mr. Twister "Nymph," I believe. I read that you can make molds from plaster of paris. And you could try some pourable casting silicone. Either one are available online or at the local Hobby Lobby-type stores. The silicone is expensive, but lasts a long time and is not fragile like plaster of paris.
Go to Lurecraft.com to check out their molding supplies.  I have made quite a few molds using their silicon products.  I also make my own panfish plastic baits, and lurecraft is the only outfit I use for my molds and plastic.  Their toll free number is 1-800-925-9088.  Good luck, Nick.

Their silicone mold making supplies are as reasonably priced as you'll find anywhere.

Use LEGO's to make mold forming structures. Erect a box of LEGOS, srpay in mold release and make a mold in the box. When the silicone is cured take down the LEGOS and voila! - a mold.

This may be new territory for you, so do your research first on how to do it. Model makers do this all the time.
