Howard how cold is the water up there ? 46 degrees by an inflow pipe down here .Hoping for a good season of ice fishing exploits to come.

Hey Guys how about some reports?

Gills are in the shallows but only hitting light jigs tipped with worms or Mealies .Any thing heavier than 32nd oz is getting almost no attention .64th oz. jigs on 2#test catch the most but I haven't gone lighter than that .The slow fall they'll rise to but they are heating up slowly .Wont be long now here in NE New Jersey before Gills become very active on a variety of baits .

Lots of gills coming off wood cover and floating docks(anchored off shore)deeper shorelines are target areas.32nd oz. feather ,marabou or Bucktail Jigs tipped with crawler pieces or Twister tails are really banging them consistently.

Gills are getting more active with the heat wave (in the 80's yesterday! in NJ ) A few gills chased down a swimming jig/twister combo. They are in higher gear for sure.

Mid ice is tough for catching fish .Got five fish last time out 5 days ago; 1Pickerel,1Crappie, 2 Gills ,1YPerch. Not the  numbers of Gills and Perch  like usual. Gonna have to fish deeper than the normal 10-15' I think.
