Well I got to dig around my grandfathers poles and tackle, some interesting stuff for sure. Wooden lures and such, plust a few poles and reels. I didn't take pics of the salt water gear yet bit here is some of the small stuff, Enjoy.
Plus let me know if there are pieces I need to be careful with.
Congratulations on your vintage score! I wouldn't know anything about the casting rods/reels or saltwater gear, but the fly fishing stuff is very cool.
That Garcia Conolon 5101 is a neat. I do not see the 5101 listed on the Garcia fly rod Wiki. I see it is 8', so I'm sure it is a fly rod. I saw a well fished Conolon 5101 just sold on Ebay for $65....not bad for a 50 year old fly rod!
The fish logo on the rod is great. I love those old school markings, so much better than the logos these days.
Not sure if you are a fly fisherman, but that Conolon is a very nice rod and is fine to use even after all of these years. Vintage Fiberglass Rods Rule!
Thanks for the link :) interesting info. I'm not into flyfishing only because I never really tried it. Not shure if grandpas old flies are still serviceable, didn't touch them to find out. Ha had a few :)
Kind of nervous about that decal scratching off, nothing coating it from what I can tell. I'm assuming the #3 pic was the reel he used as it is the only one I saw. I'm also not much on caster reels, they always seem to explode on me. But the older one has me facinated :p
Brought home the fresh water gear to start cleaning up. I'm going to get things ready for January as I'm not paying for a licence that will only be good for a month. Next year I'll be ready to hit the puddles (dry lakes all around here) and see what pops up :)
