A friend of mine was given one of those for Christmas a few years ago. It looks like a joke and I don't think I'd use one.

I've heard there are differing levels of quality among them, with Pen brand being better than others; couldn't say, but there are videos on Youtube of people catching some pretty good-sized trout on them. Of course, bluegill are tougher than trout :-) so who knows what might happen?
