Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have been fly fishing for over 40 years, in fact about 5 years ago i gave the grankids all my spinning gear except one rod for  deep water perch fishing. i own 1-9#,2-8#,1-6#,2-5#,1-3# and 1-2#, most of my fishing thru the summer is done with my 2# and 3#. When the weather turns cold as it does in the great lakes i turn to steelheads on the great lake tribs but as winter comes i look forward to going south and into my beloved bluegills. If you are ever in the area pm me or feel free to ask any info in this area

Welcome to BBG, Dave. I've been fly fishing for about 10 years off and on, but I'm not any good at it - the hazards of being self-taught <g>  I've been looking for some convenient and either affordable or ideally free fly casting lessons around San Jose, but no joy so far. Even contacted a well-reviewed (although not so affordable) professional instructor in this area, he never emailed me back. It ain't easy to learn proper casting in this town, I guess. So I'm not quite ready to part with my spinning and baitcasting gear :)

Jonathan, thats how i learned there just wasnt anybody to teach me so it was trail and error, after about 10 years a ran into a great guy who showed me the little tricks. I think if you try you tube and type in fly casting you can pick up alot of info then try a fly tying club they should have some good tyers and casters, also check tu in your area. Hope this helps because nothing like bluegills on a fly  Dave

Have you tied going on youtube and finding an Orvis site They have videos on all types of fly casting PatL
