Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Has anyone used these? I've read that they have basically zero memory and last for a long time. I was thinking about trying them. What do you you guys think?

I found these leaders at a local Wal-Mart and they were only 2.00 each. You might want to try a Wal-Mart that is near a trout fishing stream. I agree they are really nice, because of the connector and the fact you can have flies already to go on a number of the leaders. You never know what they will come up with next.
Yes we use them all the time we make our own. We use mono thread and they hold up for a long time. We use thread also all are 5ft long
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbcVaEe3RIs,this is how i make mine,i use a loop to loop connection to the fly line.

Thanks Shooter!
I also use Feather-Craft furled leaders. I prefer the 6' Nylon for general purposes but I also have a 6' fluorocarbon that I use as a sink tip. I live in St. Louis and drive by F-C to and from work (way more temptation than I can generally handle) and have to say that handling them first hand is what sold me on them. I've been using them for several years.
Chris, do you think I could get my truck and trailer anywhere close to there, pass by the exit off I-44 a lot don't have the guts or time it seems . Have done mail-order from them a lot. Very tempting lol geoff
Geoffrey,
I think you could probably manage it if you came down Manchester Ave. from the east. (they are on the north side of the street.) I'd call them if I were you to see what others have done. Good luck! Let me know if I can help.

just want to share this, I read this book called Furled Leaders and it
improves my fly casting and fishing! it really helps!

I haven't tried this leader, but it makes sense because of the memory. thanks for the reply

I make my own 5' fruled leaders out of 4# mono. I use loop to loop connections to both fly line and tippet. I just use 6# mono for tippets.  I really like the furled leaders for BG but I do not use it on my bigger rods on which I use a 40# butt section 4 to 5' and then whatever tippet I need. I like the furled leader. Wind knots are easy to remove and it seems to lay out the required small flies real nice. Cost is not much of a factor even if you have to buy them. The one I have on my gill rod is 2 seasons old and I am sure it will last at least another.

I use the same technique as the video link supplied by shooter, works great and doesn't cost a thing because I have plenty of spools of mono where I didn't use the whole spool and it only uses about 20 feet.  I use loop to loop connections this was a boon as I don't have to carry a magnifying glass to tie a nail knot while on the water. If I want it to sink I use fluorocarbon if I want it to float I use regular mono.
