Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My favorite magazine is Field&Stream they have the most publications about Bluegill fishing and every thing in-between. And most importantly they don't repost like IN-$%#@&^%

I just got an offer I cant refuse for a Field and Stream subscription..$15 for 24 issues and a free gear bag w/shoulder straps, room for thermos etc, roomy inside and outside pockets or if no longer available a gift worth as much or more(I'll believe it when I see it)I thought it was a great deal and shows how the internet is hurting these mags. Some of the old standards may not be around much longer.Hope they have ice fishin' gills articles and more about gills .
By the way when is someone gonna do a mag up big time for New Jersey Multi Freshwater species.THAT WOULD BE MY THING!
I currently subscribe to the Mid-Atlantic Fisherman and the In-Fisherman magazines. I think that almost all of the national publications have suffered somewhat due to economic woes . Advertising is on the increase, and magazine content is deminishing. Still, I would have to say that I have learned more from In-Fisherman articles than from other mags. I certainly am not saying this because they ocassionally publish my work, simply, they too have under gone a change in ownership and content in recent years and are governed by certain criteria by management strategies.

The Mid-Atlantic Fisherman is written by fishermen and captains throughout the region and you are getting stories from anglers, not 'outdoor reporters'. Some outdoor writers have evolved into reporters who do most of their work and trips through guide services and develope stories around those experiences while giving literally free advertising to the service in trade for free trips. I have used guide services in the past, and have done stories about their skills and expertise. Some have offered me discounts, but most have not. Since 95% of my fishing is done by myself, family and friends, almost all of my articles have evolved over personal experience and research.

The Panfish In-Sider is in it's first year at IF, and I look forward to many more in the future. Still, straight, hard-core 'bluegill only' articles are hard to come by with all the other 'money' species out there. Perhaps we can all pool together and when we see a good piece on gills and close kin let one another know where it's at so we can all read, learn and enjoy.
