I got out from work early today.  Went fishing.  Broke my Ice Blues rod, then I realized I left my sonar at home.  Plus, I was on a new-to-me lake, and had no idea where to go.  Didn't catch squat.

Wow that’s a bad day!

I didn’t have a chance to get out at all during those days… might be able to get out today.

C'est la vie!  It happens.

I've since checked a lake map for that lake; I know where to head.  I'm just hoping the ice holds up until Sunday.  There was only 8" of ice on it when I was there.

Just in case the ice isn't safe, I have a Plan B and even a Plan C.  Steelhead might be moving, and I'm only 20 minutes away from the closest point they can get to me.  I know it's too early for Suckers to be making a run, but I might get set for that as well.

looks i wont be fishing any for a couple more weeks if we dont get any more rain.  all the dams have been discharging at 400-600k cfs for the last month at least.  if they dont get it down before the northern snow melts hit the mississippi and the spring rains come, some folks may be in trouble again.  here is a video of where i grew up in the summer and one of my favorite places to fish for sauger and blue cats in the late winter and spring.  looks like i may hit some of the smaller lakes around the house.
