Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Finally quit procrastinating and patched up the gouge in the bottom of my boat last week.  I was able to fish the Northwest river Monday and Tuesday.

Monday: two pound bass, two pound catfish and a white perch (10" ) also a handful of yellow perch.

Tuesday was windy, caught yellow perch again no keepers.  Hooked up with something right at the Va. and N.C. border that straightened my hook.  It ran so fast made me think striper?  I went home early as the wind got the better of me.

I was glad to get the boat out from under all that junk.  It was starting to resemble a shelf more than a boat.

The numbers are the same down here Mark.....we're just in that transition period and the weather doesn't look great the rest of this week....At least you got out and things will improve soon.....I can't wait! Was the water LOW up there this week?

very low water, Monday I was worried about dropping off the end of the landing.

Its been low down here on the Carolina waters as well....Low water equates to slow fishing in my opinion Mark....I have years of data and I immediately get discouraged when it's as low as it is now....A few inches high or low is fine especially when we have a little movement in the water.....These winter wind patterns are responsible along with the full moon.....A few more weeks and we'll start getting that southerly flow back and the rivers will return to normal and things will look up.....

they have been really active by me..bluegills are moving shallow already
