20150925 - taking a day or two off despite the great weather from the old kayak and doing a little Master Angler research on the B'Gill. . the past 5 years only seven fish over 10" has been recorded i my county. 1.4 fish per year and B'Gill is the number one sought after fish in the area! this is going to be a tough nut to crack. my neighbor hood lake isnt even listed
Very interesting. Note that there is only one entry accompanied by a weight, and further note what that weight is...1.65 lbs, or 26.4 ounces. Standard weight of a 10" bluegill is around 14.4 ozs, so if we divide 26.4 by 14.4, we get a relative weight of 188% of normal/average healthy weight!! Something seems a bit off.
thanks for the input Tony... i just recently purchased a rapala digital scale that i now take with me... rules for catch and keep in Michigan are having length and weight... catch and release is length only. thats why ive never been worried about weight for a certificate because i release everything. New rules for this year no longer requires the weight but just length now for catch and keep as well as catch and release. seems like they weren't following their own rules through this process.
thanks for the numbers... just out of curiosity how much does a fully laden female 10" weigh just before spawn?
slip stinker-- where did you get your rapala fish digital scale ? I have been looking for one ...
Carl i bought the scale at a popular wholesale outlet just a short ride from me... Northwoods Wholesale Outlet... I see them on Amazon for nearly the same price i paid for it.

for panfish i use a small plastic grocery bag to hold the fish while weighing
I would guess that a fully developed egg mass would add 4-5 ozs?
