Questions:

Would I need a gas motor on my john boat to travel some distance from the launch area, or will a simple trolling motor be enough?

What about a place to stay?

License?

Food?

Hi Riverman !,  Glad to hear you are thinking about coming ,  Kentucky Lake is the biggest body of water between Canada and the Gulf, most of the water is about  4-10 ft deep except for the channel  which is about 50 ft deep.  as for Lodging  there is  hotels and motels 8 miles away in Camden ,Tn  . , their is campsites almost walking distance to the cabins , and finally we might be able to squeeze you in on one of the couchs  in the cabin.  The out of state  licence if I remember is about $12 for 3 days , and for food we get together  on the deck  and cook ,  Thurs nite - hamburgers , Friday - we might have some crawfish and shrimp , and on Sat- we will have a fish fry  from our catch.   Homemade deserts are welcome and maybe a donation  toward the shrimp and crawfish . Wow ! Idea ! your prices on crawfish might be cheaper in La  . and  we might get you to bring those., of coarse we will reimburse you  . I know the fishing is not what you are use to in Louisiana but I don't think you will find a better and more friendly crowd . We are about 60 days  from the Rendezvous  so keep in touch and we hope you can make it .      LOFR

I'm in AL... not LA

Just one question :    Alabama or Auburn Fan ?       LOFR

RIVERMAN;; I SEE YOUR FROM MONTGOMERY; AL;;;; THAT;S THE LA AREA !!    LOWER ALABAMA!!!    IT;LL BE A LONG DRIVE FOR YOU  TO COME TO THE RENDEVOU;; ABOUT;; 2 HOURS ; TO B;HAM-- 2HOURS; TO THE HUNTSVILLE AREA-- 2 HOURS;; TO CLOSE TO NASHVILLE AREA;; THEN ANOTHER HOUR OR MORE;; TO THE RENDEVOU  SITE !!  NOT TRYING TO DISCORUAGE YOU;; JUST LETTING YOU KNOW THE DISTANCE; AND TRAVEL TIME INVOLVED FOR YOU ......  AS FOR THE FOOD;; LOFR ; AND HIS BUDDY; MOUNTAIN MIKE DO THE COOKIN;; WE ALL CHIP IN;; ;   THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF FOOD FOR EVERY ONE !!  HOWEVER;; IN YO UWANT ; BREAKFEAST;; YOUR ON YOUR OWN;;; AS FOR SOMETHING TO EAT; WHILE FISHING IN MID-DAY;; YOUR ON YOUR OWN;;   MAKE A  SANDWICH WITH THE ITEMS AVAIALBE AT THE CABINS;; OR;; PERHAPS;;  OPEN A CAN;; OF CANNED POSSUM PARTS;;; SUN BAKED; AND ROAD TENDERIZED;; YUM - YUM !!  LOL

AND;;; SINCE OUR RENDEVOU IS SO GOOD;;  MY CABIN;; FOR THE 2018 RENDEVOU;; IS ALREADY FULL OF GUEST !!  WE FILL UP EARLY FOR THIS EVENT !!!!

Riverman I would bring a gas motor if you can get one. Sometimes it takes some running around to find the fish. The places I caught them the last two years were quite a ways apart.

Here is the Banner to look for at Kentucky Lake ! LOFR
