Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Question for the folks that take pictures of fly tying....

What kind of camera(s) are y'all using?

I've got a Kodak Playsport.  It's a video camera that can take stills.  Unfortunately, it has a focal length of about 4 1/2', so if I take a shot of a fly "in focus", you won't be able to make out any details.

I also have a Nikon D40, but the lens is broken.  For the kind of money that I would flip out to replace the lens, I can buy a smaller camera new.

I use a canon sx 120 I am a lousy photographer but I fiddle with the lighting enough I can get a fair amount of detail.  Here is a popper I made the other day and photographed.

I use a Cannon Powershot XS100 is.  It's about 6-8 years old and works great.  It has a Macro feature that lets you focus in on very small items like insects and flies. It also has a 10X optical zoom and a total of 40X digital.  One of the best features is that it uses 2 AA batteries.  I try to always carry it in my pocket and use it as much as possible.

Allen, I use a canon powershot S5is that has a macro and super macro mode that lets you focus within just a few inches of your subject.  Also picasa3 software which is a free google product will let you crop pictures and make all kinds of adjustments for improved picture quality.  I always shoot against a blue background which helps to keep from "blinding" the camera.  Here's a sample.
