Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Cabela's sells a "Panhandler Fish Fillet System" for $49.99. It consists of a hinged guide section and a double bladed knife which is supposed to cleanly cut off two fillets at once. Seems like a good, if pricey, idea.

Does anyone have first-hand experience with this? Comments? Evaluation?

     Thank you.

Robert, I am sorry I can't answer your question. I did look it up on Cabelas and it looked sorta like it might work. I'm not buying one because I don't see how it could save that much time from a straight down the side ribs and all filet with an electric single blade filet knife. It's just a matter of turning the fish over and repeat. Everything else has to be done per side, removing ribs and skin. You would also have to put the fish in the contraption, align it, close it, align the blades on each side, cut, then open the contraption, remove the carcass. If you give it a try, let us know how well it works and if you think it is worth the trouble of lining everything up.
