Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I was reading Jeff Soto's post on the camera he recently purchased which got me thinking.  I am in the market for a camera that will not only be affordable and take good pictures but also be worry free for all of my outdoor outings whether it is in the boat, on the ice or in the woods.  Anyone got a camera out there that would fit these criteria?  Are these unrealistic standards?  What are your thoughts......

I recently bought a Minolta Sp600 UZ for just what you propose. It is shaped like an SLR so it is comfortable to hold and big enough to grip, It has a 15X optical zoom which requires a tripod if you zoom in to max. Nikon has one, the Coolpix L110 and so does Cannon. They run around $300 but I found the Minolta on sale at Radio Shack for $159 so I jumped on it. So far I have been very pleased with the capability it offers. I have had a couple of SLRs but I am not a serious diehard photographer. I just want one that has the flexibiltiy to do a number of things.

Check it out on the web. I think you will like it.

How does it do in the elements, like in the rain or being dropped in the snow?

Well that ain't gonna work. If you need something to survice that, you need to get one of the outdoor digital ones that are waterproof and shockproof. I take mine in the boat and out in the woods but I try to avoid drop testing it. Not to say it won't happen, that is why I bough a 3 year all inclusive warranty.

good luck

I want good picture quality but would be willing to give up some of that for durability in elements.  Basically I don't want to worry about being caught on the lake in the rain and not be able to take a picture.

  Thanks for the input Guys!

You might look at a Flip video camera. It takes great pictures you can get a cover you can use it underwater. It is super easy to use just plug it into USB on computer.
