Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

We had a blizzard rolling in yesterday and I got out to jig up some panfish and bass through the ice.  We caught Largemouth, Pickerel, Yellow Perch, Crappie, Bluegill, and Pumpkinseed and I extended my streak on bass to 24 consecutive months.  Highlight of the day was this 10 3/4" Bluegill that I jigged up out of about 12' of water.  It hit a Gitzit Micro Tough Guy tipped with a waxworm.  A thrill for me as even 10" Bluegill are not very common in CT.

Wow, what an impressive fish!  Anybody would be proud of that!  Definitely beats my best through the ice.  Looks like an extra-special prize with the bluegill/redbreast genetics.  Definitely a feature!
Thanks, Bruce.  I see some of the amazing fish posted on this site and its nice to occasionally catch a fish that fits in with this crowd.
Beautiful catch Mike !I was out yesterday too on my hometown small lake(Cupsawlk,Ringwood NJ) and catching YPerch and Gills in 12'-15' of water.Nothing like this big Gill! Fanatastic .What lake ?
That is simply a spectacular trophy fish! Period!
Wow!

CT DEP says its a Bluegill-Redbreast Hybrid.  Thanks for all the comments.

Mike,

you give hope to the hopeless mate...Great catch, from snowy CT...Cheers!
