Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Since I can't get out and drive yet I asked Walt Foreman.....who made the rod.....to send me a couple of pics of my new rod...which is finished. This is one sweet looking rod and I cant wait to get my hands on it.....which will be in about 2 weeks when this new knee loosens up. I fully expect the rod to perform per my request....which were to make catching a 5 and or 6 inch Gill as much fun as catching the 9 inch Gill......and to cast the 1/64 Trout Magnet as far as possible. Will do and update on the rod when I fish it.

very nice! what are the specs?

Built off of a 2wt fly rod blank.....six and a half foot. What I wanted was to be able to cast a 1/64 jig with no extra weight.....as far as possible. I also wanted the action to let me have fun catching 5 and 6 inch Gills....when I just can't find the bigger ones. Walt says the New Concept Guide System allows him to align the guides where the stripper guide is more inline with the choker guide. It is a two piece. The whole rod probably weighed in at around 3 ounces......the blank only weighed .70 of an ounce. I wanted the split grip....just seems more natural grip to me. I selected the graphite reel seat and the thread colors. It is killing me to have to wait to get it until my new knee gets settled in. I fully expect it to be a killer crappie rod also. I wanted to try a soft action but not too soft. Walt showed me a rod built of the same blank and when I picked it up I knew that was what I wanted.
