Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Annually, we spend the first week in June fishing NE of Toronto. Some of the largest bluegills we have seen!! While fishing is great, we consistantly fight the wind. On these windy days, our anchors won't hold our 14-15 foot aluminum boats. Lake bottom consists of rocks, mud and weeds. I have read several articles on Digger and Richter anchors. Has anyone used these or can anyone offer advice on a good all-around anchor to use on our boats?

The most frustrating thing there is, out there spinning like a top. I use the weight machine flat plates from my G.son's broken weight equipment. Throw one out front and one out back. Around here if you use a hook anchor and hang a stump, you have to cut it off. I wonder if I'll ever get to fly fish again. Strong winds every single day.

I got tired of havein to cut anchors loose after they got hooked in logs and stumps. I make anchors out of coffee cans now. I get lengths of the small rebar they sell at Home Depot and cut two 18 in. pieces. Poke em thru the coffee can in a X pattern and twist #9 brace wire to em and back out the top of the can and then pour the can half full of concrete. make an eye in the brace wire to tie the anchor line to and your good to go. The rebar will bend if it gets hung.
