Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I found a lil' stream, I guess its almost a swamp ...anyway...its loaded with pumpkinseed, warmouth, redear...as well as bass and pike...... anyway, I can catch these gill pretty regular, especially the pumpkin. I use a mepps , or rooster tail, spoons......also I have been using a white jig topped with live bait.

The gill in here that I have seen are all small, and medium........should I expect that there are not any large in there, or is it possible that there are larges ones in there...and if should, what should I try to find them....the stream is loaded with cover...(in case this info would be helpful)

When fishing a water body with a large number of small to intermediate bluegill, I've found that often it is that case that no amount of fishing will yield a larger fish....

That being said, there are some exceptions. I'd say it's definitely worth a try, especially if you enjoy catching to smaller specimens.

Just last year I was fishing a pond with tons of 2-4 ounce bluegill, then popped a 14 ouncer out of nowhere..
Hey guys I appreciate it, you seem very knowledgable, again, I am kinda new to gill fishing, I like catching big ones, but its also cool to catch various sunfish, even if small, cause some of them are beautiful ....I mean especially the color patterns
so far, in my little creek, there has been no bg caught over 5". I put some LMB in there this summer, so hopefully, the situation will improve.
