Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

According to The Tallahassee Democrat 7/15/11:

Lake Talquin ..... Main lake pockets have been loaded with bream.  On bed last week was 30 ft long  to depths of 4 ft. Beetle spins, live crickets and fly rod poppers are putting fish in the boat.

For bass recent rains have created some current in the Ochlockonee River. Best fishing has been from Williams Landng all the way up to Hwy 90 bridge.

Lake Jackson...... Rains have helped the lake level rise about a foot in past couple of weeks. Bream are biting but you have to move around a lot to catch a limit. Small popping bugs on fly rod has been effective.

Have fished both of these lakes and Talquin has really been a hard catch for me ,,First bass,,then crappie ,,you can;t travel that far and expect to hit the bite every time..but sometimes it happens.visited Jackson several times before the draught dry up several years ago..great bass fishing at Jackson back then but never fished it for Bluegill..maybe this year

Vic:  I fished Jackson about six weeks ago for bream and did poorly, but that was my first time in this particular area. One guy came in  when I did with a nice catch of shellcrackers. He was a local.

Last year I did very well on shellcrackers fishing out of Rhoden Cove. Hope to get over there in next few weeks to try again. Have family that lives about 1 minutes from the ramp.

there is a world of lakes and rivers here around central Alabama like Weiss lake known to be the best Crappie lake in the country and Logan Martin known to be a great bass lake..within 60 miles from my home there is Guntersville lake, Wheeler lake on the Tennessee River, Lake Harris at Wedowee Al on the Tallapoosa River, Neely Henery on the Coosa along with Lake Jordon,, as wellas many small resevoirs and state and city lakes, but I have a bad obsession, I want to fish every where in this part of the south. There is no boundries as long as I can pull my boat and find a room to stay at..LOL
One thing for sure, the southeast is blessed with zillions of playing to fish.
