Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It’s NO Contest
But everyone can wet a line. There will be winners and losers! The winner’s lines are all wet. The losers don’t have any lines. What are we fishing for? Big Bluegill Christmas Jingles.

It’s NO Contest will be your version of Christmas jingles, songs or poems that are now about Big Bluegills. Just change the words to songs and such you already know. Change the words, change the meaning, but keep the tune.

Here’s a starter for anyone who wants it. It’s “The Night Before Christmas” With A “Big Bluegill” twist.

T’was the night before Christmas and out in the pond
Big Bluegill were feasting on crawdads and frogs
When up on the surface……. Somebody have a go at that one

One more freebie, to the tune of O Holy Night.

Oh Big Bluegill, my lure is so bright and shiny……If you can tie your own flies or present your lure so that the big ones can’t help but bite, you can finish this song. Just take a Christmas tune you already know and change it to something about Big Bluegill. It helps to have the words to the original so you can refer to it to help you along. This link has a lot of song lyrics. http://www.worldofchristmas.net/christmas-carols/index.html.

Start now in your word processor. Edit it, play with it and worry it until it’s just right. Then when you’ve got it like you want it, copy & paste your entry right in one of these reply boxes.

Come on. Everybody get their lines all wet!

We’re makin’ a list, checkin’ it twice
We’re all gonna know if you did or didn’t try
It’s No Contest
So give a great Big Bluegill try

Tune: “Blue Christmas”

No Big Bluegill Christmas

I’ll have a No Big Bluegill Christmas without you
I’ll be so blue if you don’t come play too
Little poems I’ve said
Won’t mean much to me
If you don’t come join in
And play Gill Jingles with me

And when my little poems get trying
That’s when ole Boogieman will start crying
You’ll be doing alright
When you’re just reading mine
But I’ll have a No Big Bluegill Christmas without you
Tune: “White Christmas”

Big Bluegill Christmas

I’m dreaming of a Big Bluegill
Just like the ones Bruce and Jim caught
In that Rich Man’s Mill pond
In North Cairo Lie Nahhh
Oh how I wish I could have gone

I’m dreaming of a Big Bluegill
Near every time I get a bite
May it please be a trophy this time
And may the biggest Big Bluegill be mine
this ones a riot
No, the riot hasn't started yet. I've got some lulus coming. I know you're talented with words and music John. Come on, join in with your own parody.

Boogieman
“ Jingle Gills”

Jingle Gills, Jingles, splashing all around

Come take a nip of my live bait
Before I run aground,

OH!!

Jingle Gills, Jingle Gills I smell you on the bed
Come take a bite of my earthworm before it winds up dead.

Dashing through the weeds
In my leaky ole jon boat Hope I limit out before this boat don’t float!

It’s getting wet in here,
My P.F.D. is gone
I hope I make it to the bank
Before I end up drowned.

OH!!

Jingle Gills, Jingle Gills
Splashing all around
Oh look up there just ahead
I see some dry, dry ground.

Bluegills splash are ya listenin?
On the lake the water’s glistening.
A beautiful way to spend a whole day.
Fishin’ on my buddy’s private lake.

Gone away, the old clacker.
Here to stay, a brand new Tracker
I sing a happy song.
As we drift along.
Fishing on my buddy’s private lake.

In the livewell we will put our bluegill
And think about them fried up golden brown.
We’ll be happy eating Mr. Bluegill
And drinking sweet tea to wash them down.

Later on I’ll conspire
As I doze by the fire
To face brand new days
And plan other ways
To catch ‘em on my buddy’s private lake.

Nick.
Another good one Nick. When you finish all the different tunes, you can redo tunes you've already done in an entirely different way. This is habit forming ain't it?
Yeah it is. Where 'bouts in Bama are you? Oh by the way, congrats on stomping Florida last night. Nick
'Bout two and a half hours below you, Enterprise, west of Dothan.

My whole family watched the game together at my grandson's birthday party in Mobile. We were all doing the "Gator Chomp" sideways. That makes a really cool giant clap! Try it, it's addictive too! Even the one or two stinkin' Auburn fans my youngest daughter mis-raised got in on the sideways chomp. That wasn't why "Teary Tim" was cryin' though. Brandon Spikes poked him in the eye! He's bad about that. Not as "bad" as Bama though! Roll Tide Roll.
Thanks for inviting me into your friends circle. I'm honored!! Really! Maybe come Spring when the bream have hit the bed, maybe we could plan a trip. That last song I composed is about my friend's private 12 acre lake. He has a jon boat and a trolling motor and has given me and a couple of others free access any time. I keep my fly fishing skills up when I fish there, and use small jigs and an ultralite. Have really caught mor this way than I have with live bait. One of these days, I'll have a boat my own but right now, the private honey hole suits me just fine. Take care. Nick.
