Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hey guys, I am hosting an Ice Fishing Tournament on a pond near the Iowa great lakes, its located 5 miles from Fostoria, IA or 7 miles north east of Spencer or 8 miles south east of Okoboji, I am needing some input, I have talked to the DNR and they will allow me to have up to 30 anglers on the pond for this event. so i was thinking of hosting a 2-3 person team event, top prize being $200 cash and a prize from one of the local bait shops. I think i am going to do a biggest stringer and then a bonus for the biggest fish, I would like the proceeds to go to a local charity, but I’ve never hosted an ice fishing tournament, i am an avid ice fisherman and i go fishing 3-5 times a week.

This is how I want to set the rules up:

$10.00 per person max of 30 anglers

2-3 person teams, Ice shack or shelters are allowed max 15 teams

All teams will have a number on them and on their shack if they bring them.

Starts at 8am final weigh in at 3pm prizes awarded at 3:30pm

We will provide the ice augers and have designated people to drill holes

We will provide, Wigglers, Spikes, and wax worms anything else will have to be brought on

We will provide a place to warm up and will be serving food on the ice

Menu; burger – chips- drink for $3 hotdog – chips – drink $3, there will also be refreshments.

All anglers must have a valid fishing license and will be checked, and must follow the Iowa laws IE 2 poles and or tip-ups per angler.

This is what I am thinking and I want to host it around the first or second week of February so I know the ice is thick enough.

Let me know what I can do to improve this.

Thanks

DZ

Dane, are you a member of NEFGA forum?  If not, I'd encourage you to join and then post this up there to see if you can get some more attendees.  I could run it by the directors and see if it's alright if you'd like.  I realize it's NE, but the event is only a couple hours from a lot of people on the forum.  Check it out and let me know if I can help you spread the word.  http://www.nefga.org/forum/forum.php

Should get some interest from that post Dane.  Nice.
