Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught this in a cow pond that supposedly had "no fish". Most of the fish we caught were 3-4" stunted bluegill, but the few larger fish that were in there were absolutely gorgeous! We caught some small redear along with the 'gills, and a fish that I originally assumed was a redear, but now I'm thinking it could have been a hybrid. Just  wondering if anyone else thought the same.

The fish was about 8" long

This was one of the nicer 'gills

Nolan, your first photo appears to me to be a female bluegill. I think I see some mottling on the cheeks, and the projected nose is sometimes indicative of a redear, but it's hard to tell. Very tough to say for sure one way or the other.

Your second photo is of a male BG.
