Fishing for a Cause - Recycled Fish 24 Hour Fish-a-Thon!

The mission - Help Preserve our waters, and our fishing heritage!

The Recycled Fish 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon is
anglers fishing around the clock and around the country to raise
awareness for the problems facing our fisheries, and money to help
solve those problems.

Why would anglers team up with their friends and family for a grueling
24 hours of fishing, 6pm Sept 10th - 5:59pm Sept 11th?

To raise awareness and funds for Recycled Fish, a 501(c)3 national non
profit organization made up anglers across the nation and around the
world dedicated to living a lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the
water, because "Our Lifestyle Runs Downstream".

Keeping our Waters, and out Fisheries clean.  "Make up for the other
guy...." Trash is not only an eyesore, it's something that can stay in
our waters thousands of years to come. Discarded monofiliment fishing
line, can be hazardous to wildlife, it can also damage boat props.

There will be 26 teams fishing this years Fish-a-thon, each for a great
cause that will help our fisheries.

A partner of Bigbluegill.com and Recycled Fish, The Nebraska Fish and
Game Association (NEFGA.ORG) has two teams fishing in this years
Fish-A-Thon.  Myself and fellow NEFGA staff member Rob Greer will fish
Summit Lake in Eastern Nebraska. Summit is a success story that's only
getting better.  It was renovated several years ago, and since then,
many anglers have caught (and released!) trophy sized bluegill, bass,
catfish, and crappie.  To those who know me, know I'll be chasing those
big gills, upwards of 10"!

The Nebraska Fish and Game Association has a community program dedicated
to keeping used mono fishing line out of our waters, and landfills.
the NEFGA recently installed it's 91st "periscope" bin where anglers can
deposit their used mono fishing line.  NEFGA volunteers collect the
line several times a month, and once enough is collected, the line is
shipped off to the good folks at Berkley who then recycled the line into
fish structure!

NEFGA Team1's goal for the Fish-a-thon is to raise enough funds to
install two more Line Recycling Bins in the name of Recycled Fish.

There's already been a generous donation made by a certain
Bigbluegill.com member, and every single dollar helps.  In fact, a 1
dollar donation could potentially keep up to 3lbs of trash from our
waters, or help recruit on new steward to the cause of keeping our
legacy of angling alive.

Thanks, Alex. It's definitely a good cause. You and Teeg Stouffer have been great partners for BigBluegill!
This is definitely for a great cause. Wish I could participate, but I will certainly make a donation instead. I have the utmost respect for what Recycled Fish does and stands for. Have a great time Alex and take lots of pictures! And video ;)
