Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Looking to get some takes on electric fillet knives. Thinking about buying one to large amounts of fish.

Steven;; Lord of the Fly Rods; uses a  electric knife when he fillets fish;; dang fast at it to !!   he can fillet 3 to 4; in the time it takes me to do one  with a regular knife !

I should catch so many fish that I need such a thing ;-)

Now that I have an RV, I hope to make some overnight trips out to the Colorado River this year, so who knows, maybe I will :-)

My wife bought a $10 Proctor Silex electric knife on sale  at Shop Rite .Worked great on the Ham and Turkey but never tried it on Fish

The thin Rapala blade has a sensitivity I can't imagine you get with an electric .Still I'd like to try the electric to see/feel how it works . Perhaps the skinning of the fillet would go smoothly  and make the job somewhat quicker .  Maybe one guy doing the filets with the rapala and piling up for the guy with the electric to take the skins off would be fast .

Steven , filleting fish  with an electric knife is definitely a skill that is not hard to master it just takes a little practice to master, it wont take long before you can make a comb that Fred Flintstone would use,  but be careful what you wish for , my neighbor sold the catfish from his 15 acre pond and after it was draining he realized there was still more catfish that escaped the net, thats when he came got me and I spent 2 full days filleting catfish .  I have spoiled my family , all they want now is filleted bluegill although I still enjoy  fried whole fish too, scaled , cut, and gutted , and I have a particular way of doing that too, One of my cheats for scaling a lot of fish is to take the small high pressure washer to them , it knocks those scales off in just seconds , we need to make a device that you just drop the fish in one side ,they get sprayed and come out the other side scale free ,ready for cutting and gutting.  NOTE:   I am not a fin eater, I remove the fins , I like bluegill meat not fins , and leaving the fins on take up too much room in the skillet, you can cook more fish faster if you remove the fins , and when people are waiting to eat they get cranky if they have to wait too long. What make and model do you recommend

and after personnly watching LOFR; use his electric knife;;  i really want to learn this way;; mass production !!   Jeffery;; using a regular garden hose; with  a regular sprayer;; will knock scales off a fish; soon as the water hits it !  you just have to be able to hang on to the fish !!      Steven;; cruisnart has just come out with a single blade  electric knife;; ; it has a trigger on the bottom of the handle; instead of a push button;; kind of pricy tho; around 50 dollars !

A pressure washer, how in the world did you come up with that idea.

My Dad had a little electric pressure washer hooked up on the patio when we got home from a fishing trip with about seventy or eighty fish , since that was the days before I started filleting fish,we were getting ready to start scaling fish but he wanted to knock some mud off the trailer and the fish were laying on the grass ready for the count , Dad and I were always competing and he blasted a fish with the pressure washer and scales went to flying off , and thats how it got started.
