Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just thought I would holler at everyone! Today is crib building day and learning how to fly fish a little! Lets start with the cribs, My dear "uncle" Tommy (mom's cousin), is wanting to get some structure in the lake he lives on and where Steph and I do alot of our fishing. Its a great lake, 10-12ft water clairity, great weeds, no pike, big gills and huge bass. The plan is too make cribs by using wooden shipping pallets and PVC pipe. The pallets are acting as the base and the pipe will be the vertical structure. Should , in idea, be great!
Part two for the day is fly fishing. I built myself a very nice 9' 4wt flyrod 3 years ago and haven't even used it yet. As a matter of fact, I just put backing and line on it last week! I will be taking a handful of mutant flies I have tied over the last couple of years, which haven't seen the water either!
So, in conclusion, this is whats on tap for today my friends! I will be bring the camera, of course and hell, I might even shoot some video! Good luck to all that are out fishing today and be safe! Patrick

good luck Pat!
remember, just because you think the cast was ugly, doesnt mean the fish do. keep that fly in the water - they cant bite it in the air!!
Thanks Dana! That is great advise!
Both of those sounds like a great day. Building structure will be in time great for you
and the fish.
Learning how to fly fish is a lot of fun. Maybe kinda hard at first but once you get the hang
of it, it is a LOT of fun.Go for it.
Just my 2c.

Well....It was just too windy to fish! gusts to 35mph!! We did manage to sink 2 cribs though. That was time consuming! Here is a tip. when you think you have enough weight....ADD MORE!!!
