Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Due to work/economy, probably no more custom rods here. I do have a 10 1/2' st. croix noodle rod blank that has been made into a 5wt for ultra-lite steelhead flyfishing. Would like a similar rod for 'Gills. Say, 7 1/2' or 8' , maybe a 2-3wt blank. A Tennesee cork grip so spin or fly reels can work. Half titanium spin guides, stepping down to oversize titanium snake guides, say 4 of each. Aahhh... someday. steve b

That sounds sweet - I personally would like about an 8' ultralight spinning rod to take my 1000 series Shimano spinning reel because of the weight factor - the older I get and the worse my lumbar discs get, I need to avoid as much weight as possible. Even a light 4-5wt. fly rod blank would be good.
After a bunch of years of thinking about what I wanted in a hybrid rod for working the gills, I made the plunge.
I found a fella out in Penn. that does nice work.
My rod is an 8 1/2 foot 2 piece,3 wt. fly rod blank. He installed a nice basic spinning rod handle, hook keeper, and a dozen eyes counting the tip top. It is set up to handle a Shimano Stradic 1000 that I had on hand.
I don't know the blank brand and really don't care. I am real pleased with this mans work.
The rod is pleasing to the eye and has a nice feel. I'm sure anxious to put it to work this spring.
I have the reel spooled with Super Silver Thread clear #4 lb, and need to get another spool for some #2 mono. for the brush free areas. I would have no problem sharing the skilled craftsman, but that would be akin to advertiseing so PM I think would be fitting.
BTW-Price was quite reasonable in my mind. Mike
