Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Does anyone have any experience fishing bluegills in Florida after the fall cooldown?  I am in between Orlando and Tampa.

Thanks,

J

Jeffery; years ago; there were several strip mine ares that had great fishing in those areas of Tampa;  to Orlando;; best to ask your local game division if there any left; and if its allowed to fish there any more..  one more thing tho;; they did have quite a few- gators in them to !  but that was in around the late 70;s ;; mid 80;s when I last fished that area ..

Thanks, Carl!

Not sure of your location, you have the Kissimmee chain just south of Orlando and there's plenty of fishing, good fishing.
Take care,
Jeffery

i think those are the phosphate pits near lakeland fl.fished em 20 years ago on the way back from okeechobee.gators are pretty much everywhere in florida.had a 12 footer almost jump in the boat off a high bank.my brother said it was dead.i hit it on the snout with a spinnerbait.he woke up and went for the water.well we were right below him.he smacked the boat with his tail as he went under.my brother is still mad about that one

I left St Petersburg Monday, and at 82 degrees  I know I saw a bunch of bluegill sticking their tongue out at me as I drove by,  I wanted to stop and take a population sample. I was just thinking , Hum ! you know , I have never caught a gator on a fly rod , I have caught two of them when I was growing up in the swamps of Louisiana  but I have never caught one on a fly rod , I may have to put that on my bucket list.   LOFR

Lord of the Fly Rods;; just let me know when you want to try that one ;; I want to be there ; LOL  !! It might be like old-- Marcell Ledbetter !!  just shoot in here amongst us !  one of us has got to have relief !!   LOL

Carl , the last time my Grandmother wade fished for bluegill in Lake Conway Arkansas years ago she caught a baby alligator  " less than 2 feet "  on a cane pole , she still liked to fish  for bluegill but from then on it was always out of a boat, where there are little gators there are big gators  !    LOFR

LOFR-- I agree buddy;; where there are  little gators;; theres big uns to !  by the way ; last black friday; a guy went fishing; instead of shopping with his wife;; caught a 90 pound blue catfish ! missed the state record by 20 pounds !  he had a go- pro camera; filmed it !

I saw that on the headlines yesterday.  LOFR
