Having lived on or near brackish water 95% of my life, I was curious to learn how much salinity Bluegill could tolerate. Turns out they can handle a salinity level of 1.8 ........They have been caught in the Chesapeake Bay and I have also personally caught bluegill in my own crab pots in the Albemarle Sound.......a salt water inlet off the Atlantic Ocean.....

Once in 1960, the Japanese Emperor was presented some Bluegill as a gift from the government, these fish escaped the facilities they were kept in and now the Bluegill is considered invasive in Japan and has taken over several large bodies of water there.....The Emperor at the time has apologized to the Japanese public for this incident......

Big Bluegill eat cats..LOL  no serious they eat little cats..
